Bohemian Elegance Wedding

I remember the morning I first met Sunni the bride and her mom Tammy, we met at a local trendy coffee shop called Barista Parlor in Nashville, Tennessee.  This was our first meeting. I recall them walking up, both with giant smiles on their faces as they were about to embark on the journey off planning a wedding!  They were excited and ready to plan the day Sunni was going to marry her handsome groom, Gunnar, and wanted it to be perfect!

Both Sunni and Gunnar are heavy involved in the music industry, with Sunni running and artist management agency and Gunnar just releasing his first single "Forever Sounds Good to Me" Gunnar and the Grizzly Boys. This wedding needed to be hip, cool, rustic, elegant and unique all wrapped up together. I remember Sunni explaining how she wanted, leather, lace, wood, and steel all to be equally part of the design. She had a Bohemin flair with undeniable elegance. We were excited to began the creation.

Sunni had booked a venue, Saddle Woods Farm. It is a beautiful barn located just outside of Nashville. This was the perfect pallet to create this stunning event.

First things first, she had to find the perfect dress! We sent Sunni straight to Amanda Oberhaus at POSH bridal Couture! Amanda always takes such good care of our clients she adds a special touch to the experience. I knew she would help Sunni find the perfect dress, and she did just that! Sunni chose a beautiful dress designed  by, Madison James. The illusion back of this sleek lace gown is accented with graceful floral appliques and trailing buttons" simply stunning!

Laurie D'Anne Events is a custom design company. We take our time letting the event evolve based on the clients vision.  Custom designs grow, beginning with the  vision the bride has for her wedding day and the creative ideas of our team, and together we create MAGIC! I love working with clients that trust the process. Sunni did just that! She gave us the basics and let us run with it, creating the perfect day!

The Ceremony

The ceremony was to be held outdoors under a structure that set in the midst of tall trees around the structure. It  was beautiful engulfed wth florals graceful hanging overhead. Sunni had mentioned that she wanted vintage rugs to line the center of the aisle. So we set out to find s collections of vintage, Azteca styled rugs And  I called in Alina at Petals and Fields in to help collaborate the floral design. Together we created the perfect ceremony site for this couple.

Cocktail Hour

Like all good parties its important to keep your guests engaged. We used this hour immediately following the ceremony to WOW the guests with these Tepee's created  by Nashville Audio Visual, and custom made for our event.

The second thing we knew we had to have was incredible food! Not just good food, but food that would knock the socks off of their California, Michigan and Nashville guest. And we did just that. We chose to work with Chef Burke at G'Catering who created a culinary experience, from a sculpted Raw Bar  during the cocktail hour to Street Tacos, and more for the reception, each stations authenticity and culturly displayed creating  a culinary experience.

The Reception

This goal was to create a relaxed comfortable relaxed setting. Sunni and Gunner wanted to be able to enjoy their guest and their guest to enjoy the party! A great band , fantastic food and great lighting that would created the prefect atmosphere to host their guests.

Enjoy as you browse trough these beautiful photos take  by Nyk and Cali Photography. Notice the details of this wedding from the furs on the benches, to leather table accents, and wood everywhere. We loved designing this event! Each element was customized just for Sunni and Gunnar.

From the moment I met Sunni and Gunnar I knew this event was going to be spectacular! We couldn't be more happy with the end result.

Come let us create the perfect wedding setting day for you and your guests!

ENTERTAIN! LAUNCH PARTY

I often get asked to help plan Grand Opening events for new businesses or open houses for new venues. Much of our ability to do so depends on the time of year and the other partners that are willing to participate. It was an honor to help Brandon Rolland of ENTERTAIN! Nashville plan a launch party! We were excited to be able to design and plan this event at East Ivy Mansion located in East Nashville. Thank you to all the wonderful people that came out to celebrate!

lg_jpeg-0180.jpg

As we began planning the event, we wanted to do something a little different. Here in Nashville, to be expected, we get a lot of rustic and bohemian styled events.  Since we had the beautiful East Ivy Mansion as a backdrop, we decided to do something that had a sleeker look.

lg_jpeg-0188.jpg

I had been eyeballing these tepees, which I can’t wait to show you the ones that I have in an upcoming event in May. For this event I wanted them to be all white, so I had a local draping company make them for me. Much of what we do is customized. I love taking inspiration and creating something cool from it.

lg_jpeg-0154.jpg

Nashville also has a new specialty rental company, SO COOL Events, in town and it was the perfect opportunity to showcase their product with over 250+ event professionals attending.

lg_jpeg-00701.jpg

The guests were greeted through the courtyard with champagne and violin playing as they made their way through the winding path to the pool area.  They enjoyed fun drinks and a beautiful display of passed Hors d’oeuvres.

It was the perfect evening to enjoy and celebrate the wonderful people that we work with in this industry.

Enjoy as you look through the beautiful photography of Abigail Volkmann Photography that captured the event.

MY WISH FOR MAKE-A-WISH

Hi Readers,

As the craziness of the winter months is coming to a close, I like to take the small amount of free time that I have to reflect on the many beautiful events and moments I have had the pleasure to join. I make it a priority to participate in as many non-profit events as I can in a year. One event that I always look forward to is the Stars for Wishes Gala.

stars-for-wishes-2017-lg-jpeg-0317.jpg

Stars for Wishes is a fundraising event that is put on by Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee, in an effort to raise money to grant wishes for children with life-threatening conditions. As most of you may know, Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee was founded in 2000 and has already granted over 1,400 wishes for children. Granting wishes, gives these terminally ill children a chance to live in the moment, and most importantly give them the hope and strength to endure those long hours in the hospital. It overwhelms me with pride to be apart of an event that strives to do this. Even just a simple smile, like from the girl below, proves to me that I am apart of something great.

This year, the Stars for Wishes Gala celebrated its 5th year in Nashville. The evening was so special for me because unlike the years before, I was asked to participate in designing the main event. In the years prior, I had the pleasure of designing the after party event. However, this year myself and other local designers were given the honor of collaborating for the main portion of the event. Needless to say, you can tell in the picture below, I was floored with excitement!

stars-for-wishes-2017-lg-jpeg-0145.jpg

Our mission this year was to take lead on the décor of the entire event. We aimed to create a warm and stimulating environment for each and every guest. With the help of other talented collaborators such as the Graceful Table, Visual Elements. T. Villager Designs, CORT Furniture and Music City Tents and Events, we transformed the Gaylord Opryland into an elegant vision of modern eclectic with a rustic element. In order to achieve that, we paired modern furniture, accented silver lighting, and wooden side tables. For color we used deep blues and silver sparkled linen to deepen the magical color pallet of the night.

stars-for-wishes-2017-lg-jpeg-0333.jpg

Floral is an aspect of design that is huge for me. I believe that stimulating guests’ sight and feel is just as important as stimulating their sense of smell. Therefore, I explained to the event florist that I wanted tall iron stands with floating center pieces to give a look of grandeur without taking the attention of the entire room. If you know me, you know that I believe true beauty lies in creating details that will provide the entire room with balance and comfort.

For the silent auction, our challenge was to decorate 37 tables and provide a fully serviced bar for 700 guests. We decided that the bar would be our focal element of the room. You can see in the picture below that our copper bars and the grand iron tree embellished with gorgeous floral completed the scene.

stars-for-wishes-2017-lg-jpeg-0264.jpg

After hours of planning and designing, it was time for the show to begin. The evening was entertained by show host Blair Garner and world famous musicians, Brett Young and Jonathan Cain. We dined mouth-watering dishes from Chef Matt Bolus and listened to heart-warming messages from families and supporting organizations. My favorite portion of the event was a special performance from Wish Kid, Tarin. He is such a brave and inspiring little soul. After the auction, the late party events wrapped up the evening. It’s at the end of the night that I run a mental overview of the event and think about how I became apart of something so much larger than myself.

It is because of my position with the International Live Events Association or ILEA, that I was given this opportunity. ILEA partners every year with Make-A-Wish to make this event possible and every year I am more and more amazed at the hundreds of people who ban together to make it possible. I am so lucky to have a career that provides me with these special moments and I love getting the chance to share them with you!

A special thanks to the photographer Abigail Volkmann who captured the beauty of this event and the LDE Team who helped me put it into words. Stay tuned to read more of the many events I get to plan. And remember, it’s never to late to change a child’s life and contribute to Make-A-Wish foundation of Middle Tennessee!

With Love,

THE RAINING SEASON’S 2ND ANNUAL GALA

When you walk into a room, what’s the first thing you notice? The venue? The people? The atmosphere? You breathe it all in, and most times if you’re anything like me, you relate more to a warm and comforting feeling  you get from the environment.

And that’s exactly what this night was.

This past weekend, I produced and organized The Raining Season’s 2nd Annual Gala. It was the perfect setting to support an amazing cause. The look was a natural, Earthy, yet a perfectly elegant mix. Using an array of browns, rich greens, and soft cremes, we pulled off this warm look at The Factory in Franklin. If anyone is familiar with The Factory, you’ll know that this building has an industrial, yet modern feel to begin with, so it wasn’t had to achieve our vision for our 170 guests.

img_3111.jpg

The Raining Season supports child adoption in Sierra Leone, Africa, and Saturday night, they were announcing their newest endeavor – The Roots Project. This initiative will help in-country children find their perfect home and family.

instagram2.jpg

Since this organization is inviting and accepting, we wanted the gala to encapsulate that exact same feel.

So how did I get the ball rolling to plan this event?

Well, this particular organization is very hands-off when it came to the design and planning the overall look of the event, so I was able to let my creative juices flow. We discussed their ideas and thoughts, and then they allowed me to take the wheel on everything from the table tops to lighting .

When working with organizations that the some purpose of the event is to raise money, it is important to be mindful of the spending. The event had to be elegant and yet not over done but not under done as well. I decided to to start with what I had in inventory and build from there.

I had these amazing lantern that I decided would be perfect to incorporated into the centerpieces. Typically when designing an event,  I start with and element, and a few photos that depict the feel that I want my client to experience when they walk into the room.

These lanterns were a focal piece for high-top tables, silent auction tables, and we used them as an accent to the center pieces on the King’s tables. They were  a great starting point, then we built from there.

Next, in order to achieve the desired look the foundation was wanting, we chose a little higher end linen for the tables. The Latte and Avocado crinkle taffeta linens gave the tables textures and a very elegant look we needed.

Next, to go along with the earthy  tones and soft colors, these gorgeous flowers and faux tree trunk center pieces were the perfect fit for these rustic, elegant center pieces. With the lighter center pieces, I knew we needed the candles and white flowers to give that shimmer and keep it charming. We kept the lights dim, but just enough to create a warm glow with overhead string lights.

instagram.jpg

After the decor came one of the most important steps – the  food. Simply put, good food is what will make people feel happy and grounded. When I was deciding on some menu items, I knew who I needed to work with , G Catering is absolutely amazing!. They brought an extremely flavorful menu to the table. We chose a chicken, spinach an artichoke entree with very root, farm-to-table side dishes. This American style food was not only absolutely delicious, but the perfect parallel to the night’s theme.

instagram4.jpg

Energy is next on the list, and music is the perfect tool in order to complete the overall feeling of an event. The music was a very modern, upbeat pop playlist created by one of the founder’s daughters (bonus!). It kept the energy light, flowing, and comfortable.

Lastly, with the help of The Raining Season, we held a silent auction for guests to bid on. Items included hand-carved art pieces, paintings, hand-woven blankets from AFRICA , and much more. Guests were able to mix and mingle before dinner in order to donate and encourage the growth of the foundation.

Overall, the night was beautiful and when it comes down to it, we were all able to come together to support an amazing organization. The Raining Season and similar philanthropic foundations are some of my favorite events to help organize and produce.

Keep and eye out for our 3rd annual Gala in the fall of 2018! If you would like to donate to this amazing organization please check out their website at: http://www.therainingseason.org.

Country Music Hall of Fame-Kelsey and Bo

When I got the call from Kelsey's mom that Kelsey was getting married, and HAD to have me help her plan her wedding, I was overjoyed! You see I had helped plan Kelsey's  sister Kristin's wedding several years before and ]I totally loved her family. The girls had similar tastes but we had to make it completely different. One of my favorite things to do is to create an event, all types of events, look and feel like the host or guest of honor. Kelsey and her fiance,  Bo wanted a glamorous fairy-tale wedding! And that is what we gave them.

Come RAIN or SHINE.....LOVE goes on

I remember when I first met Martha and mom Lora. We met for lunch at J Alexanders  and we had an immediate connection. We talked about how they found me; I had done a wedding for one of Martha's college friends. And as Martha explained her vision for her wedding  I knew that I wanted to be part of helping to bring Martha's vision to life! This was another very special family. 0502

Martha and Justin are from a small town near Center Hill Lake, in beautiful  Tennessee. They dreamed of getting married outside, at Justin's family home. And that is exactly what they did!  500 guest were invited; and the wedding was a beautiful affair to remember!

Thank you to Divine Images for these lovely photos.

The week of the wedding  had been filled with pouring rains and thunderstorms. On the day of the wedding, it had rained all day. It's the first time in my career  that I had difficulty making the rain call. We had ordered and set a back up tent for the ceremony, but I knew that Martha's heart was set on this beautiful outdoor wedding. As the clouds rolled in and the rains came down, I was torn. At one point the rain and high winds actually blew over 10 receptions tables, soaked the linens and knocked over centerpieces. Thankfully, there was plenty of time to fix that.

Around 2:30pm we had to move forward one way or the other, and move quick  or there would not be time to complete the setup. To my surprise, I found out  there was a wonderful airline pilot from Colorado, who was with the extended family. I am so grateful to him. Because he was a pilot, he had the ability to read the radar more accurately . I had him on speed dial that afternoon. When it came time to make the final decision, He said to me, " You will have a break in the storms about the time the ceremony is scheduled to start. If you can start on time, you will have about 30 min. to get through the ceremony." That was it for me, I just needed that  bit of hope and I knew we could make the seemingly impossible, happen!  So we charged forth in the rain, and 15 minutes before 500 guest arrived the skies parted, the sun came out, and Martha and Justin were getting married!!  The storms held back for about an hour and a half. And once we were all under the tent for the reception, the skies opened up and the rains poured again but this time we were all under the reception tent, Martha, Justin, and their family and friends were having a wonderful time, so LET IT RAIN!

We met Julie and her mom Amy, right after they had booked Saddle Woods Farm as their venue. Julie was just a doll and her mom like most mothers, wanted to give her daughter the wedding of her dreams. Amy plans corporate events so she knew more than most people coming into the planning process and we had a great time planning together! Each time we met with Julie I could see how excited she was about getting married to this wonderful guy... Zach! © Nyk + Cali, Wedding Photographers

Through the planning process  we got to spend some time with Zach too! You could tell how much they were in love and how much they complimented each other.

We had a great time at the tasting with G Catering

From the Bride:

I just wanted to say thank you so much for making our wedding day everything we wanted and way more. You are AMAZING at what you do. ---Julie Brackin

From the Mother of the Bride:

Laurie,

I just cannot tell you enough how happy and grateful I am to you for making Julie’s wedding so incredible!!! I received compliments upon compliments about every aspect of the day. Stunning and magical were just two of the words that I heard many times. For me, it was watching Zach and Julie have such a wonderful time!! Seeing Julie’s beautiful smile the entire night and watching the two of them on the dance floor made very bit of it worthwhile to me. I could go on and on, but just know that I couldn’t have been happier.--Amy

From the Father of the Bride:

Laurie,

I usually don't write testimonials, but your hard work, planning, and attention to every detail has to be recognized. Thank you so much for making my daughter's wedding day so beautiful. It was simply awesome! You brought every elegant detail to life, and even more beautiful than we had imagined. I can't imagine the reception being any more perfect. From the minute we arrived until the last guest left, everything flowed perfectly. We never worried about anything and we were able to just enjoy the evening knowing that you were working behind the scenes to ensuring perfection. The beautiful, stunning décor, very friendly staff, awesome food and drink, and great entertainment made for a beautiful evening. Everyone was very impressed and all of the guest had a blast. I've never seen Julie smile so much.  Thanks again for being so professional, friendly, thoughtful, and so easy to work with. You made the planning a joy for Julie and her mom, which is an important part of the experience as well. We will highly recommend you to everyone. Thank you for making Julie's day the best.

Thanks again……Chuck (Julie's dad)

CELLAR ONE

Laurie D'Anne Events I Cellar One I truly enjoyed working with Tyler and Felicia to design their wedding. Felicia being my only child, it was a blessing to be able to plan their wedding. From the outdoor ceremony to the inside reception we carried the uniqueness of them as a couple. The ceremony was late afternoon and the sun beaming down between the buildings set the perfect stage for the ceremony. Felicia and Tyler wanted a small ceremony that was intimate with a little over 100 very close friends. My choice for them was Chef's Market for the catering. I have worked with Jim and his team for years and they always produce beautiful and delicious food. Felicia and Tyler  wanted simple tasty hor d'oeuvres and desserts. Chef's Market always presents their food beautifully no matter how elaborate or unique the menu. Tyler and Felicia added their own personal touches from a custom GOBO, to chalk painted wine bottles with their favorite scripture. Our entertainment was a BIG band who blew everyone away with lots of fun dancing! That was several years ago and I am so grateful for all the wonderful people that helped make this the perfect day for Tyler and Felicia. The event was full of life just like the two of them!

It was perfect!
